The Hallway, handwoven wall hanging

On my loom ‘The Hallway’ a weaving project for a Dutch hall. A warp with candy store colours red and red, not my usual palette of colours. The pattern is a variation of a broken twill combined with clasped weft technique which uses 2,3 or 4 interlocking weft colours. I’m using two interlocking weft colours for this wall hanging.

I find weaving with only five colours: indigo, faded denim blue, red, pink and camel challenging. The options are limited and playing with colour blocking is key to keep the design interesting.

  • yarn: 100% organic cottoline (70% cotton 30% linen)
  • warp colours: indigo – faded denim blue – red – pink – camel
  • weft colours: indigo – faded denim blue – red – pink– camel
  • size: length 220 cm x width 95 cm
